A Bird In The Hand

The other day, outside our back door, we heard some extra loud chirpin. Upon examination there were a couple a birds that were quite upset. Here's why. This little fella had fallin outta
nest in one of our trees. Youngest got
down on the ground and the little guy went
straight to her and climbed in her hands.

When I stuck em back in his nest I think he and his sibs thought it was supper time.
This evening dogs and I went out back to check on the nest, but Buster soon go
t bored and wanted back in.
Here's a common occurrence in our front yard.

UPDATE: They've all left the nest now. Here's one of em perched on the branch of another tree.
Yep, the nest is empty. Shot of gulls from oldest's trip to Corpus this weekend.

I didn't think it was possible for you guys to have any more animals, but you have now outdone yourself. You should put a sign out front that says; 'Havic's Hill Country Zoo.' Why drive all the way to San Antonio, when you can save the $50 in gas and entry fees and stay right here and go to the Havic's.

Yeah, were a regular Delta Tau Chi here.

Ok, I'm easily entertained.

From our bedroom window you can watch these two birds go back and forth from their nest. Altho, it seems only one of them does the actual feeding of the three baby birds. Wish I had my oldest camera right now.

Wow, I'm surprised that bird went to her like that. Miss Doolittle, I guess. I always heard that you can't touch a baby bird, cuz then the mom won't want it after it smells like people. Maybe that's an urban legend of sorts.

I found this funny...D went to BBuster to get a movie so I'm thinkin I'm in for a night of murder and suspense. Guess what he came back with? "Fool's Gold" w/ Matthew McConawhoever!! Um...ok? For some reason I don't have high hopes for it, but I'll remain positive.

They got to him didn't they? Better ck the back yard for a pod.

Actually, my only two experiences w/ unnested..er...denested...uh...wish Dubya was here..birds, is puttin em back has no adverse effects. I'd say urban legend. I'll ck Snopes.

Snopes affirms that there is no danger of parental birds abandonin their chicks if handled. In fact, fledglings live on the ground or ona tree limb for a few days till they can fly. What we came across was a nestling, puttin it back was correct.

Ok, maybe I should unplug for awhile :)

I've never heard of Snopes. An info site? You can't unplug, you're now our resident myth defunker.

Go to Reck's Blog @ TH and you'll find it under misc on blogroll.

And yes, when it comes to funk, I'm the defunker.

I noticed you guys were covered in green for a change! We've been gettin it every evening. Thundering now.

RecknHavic said...

Yeah, never been so happy to see green.

Ahhh...thunder.

Yeah, we've had this deal where every day starts out beautifully, and then around 6:00, the storms come in. Tomorrow's supposed to be ugly here. But "I love a rainy night, I love a rainy night, I love to hear the thunder, and the lighting, as it lights up the skyyy. Ya know it makes me feel good." My apologies for knowing that song.

IMHO Reck's flame-baiting me into giving him the bird.

I'M NOT FALLING FOR IT!!!!

Stan are you *THE MAN WHO FEEL TO EARTH*?

Don't put yourself "under" so much "pressure".

Apology accepted, at least till *WABBIT* season.

Ok, Stan's influence on me is troublin.

Rain??? That's not fair. We haven't gotten rain in, in....what's rain?

Anonymous said...

It's water falling in drops condensed from vapor in the atmosphere, but that's not important right now.

Nestor said...

Well it's very important because I haven't seen any in a long time. And my grass and trees really havent seen any in a long time.

(That's an "Airplane" joke...couldn't tell if you knew that!) I'd send ya some if I could..we've already been rained on tday.

I was just checking out the Show Tunes channel on cable, and guess what was on?

"His name is Lancelot, just watch him dance a lot.
He doesn't care what people say...."

Say, are you a knight who really likes his nightlife? Ha ha ha ha...

K, that wasn't really directed at you, I just thought the line was funny.

If you lived here, you're be home by now. (Firesign Theatre) Gate 11, Gate 12, Gate 13, and so on, and so on ...

It's amazing. All the way home from work and its pouring rain...until I get 3 miles from my house. Dry as a bone. What's the deal?

I've never thought about it before (even though I think I did see that movie (it was before the time of my enlightenment.)) But I imagine that it's a possibility.

Aw, wonder if mom and pops are going thru empty nest syndrome. I'll bet their friends are callin em "empty nesters". Figure they'll turn the nest into an office, then book themselves a cruise...

RecknHavic said...

I'm guessin they're par-tayin.

If there was to be a vote being a "*vs*" thing between Reck's Townhall blog and Reck's Blogger blog, I think I'd chose Townhall.

Not only because they don't censor my comments (even though I'm 180 degrees opposed to Mr. Reck), but because they have a 'Most Recent Comments' ability.

Nestor said...

I like the recent comments thing on Townhall, but I dislike rest of the website for blogging. It's difficult (if possible) to post pictures and video, and the popups are terrible.

May I suggest a Reckers Wordpress blog?
