Nice job! Enjoyed seeing pics of you guys's (ok...ya'lls') trip together this summer. That swim looks nice...especially now that I've been in southern TX in the summer. Ahhhhhh....

"Boat"...very funny, smarty.

Thanks. Wish I'da taken more photos. Tough linin up the writin w/ the pics on Blogger. I always increase text size by 1 when I get on; so I don't really know if it lines up for others.

Btw, we split a dbl header tonight in SB. We're 2-2 if ya can believe it.

Anonymous said...

"only missed half the tour"..lol.
Just so you know I could totally take both of you at that tether paddle game. I took down a neighbor kid just the other week. That sounded funny...but I'm not kidding.

I have a tough time w/ the text, too. Never even tried to line it up w/ pics.

B: "I look just like E.T. except for the cwooked thwoat. Besides that...we're EXACTLY the same."

Think I oughtta work on his self image? ;)

RecknHavic said...

Bring it!

I'd think that B thinkin he looks like E.T. would be considered a good thing to you. You know, aliens and all :)

I gotta draw the line somewhere.

Hey, I just google earthed the Lexington...they have a really cool picture of it at night. And I took the other 3 tours. (kidding)

Do you happen to know the name of the DC you were talking about? I'm not sure what I'm missing.

RecknHavic said...

We just watched the final episode (from tues) tonite. Don't wanna give anything away 'case you haven't seen it. All I'll say (to identify it) is the "dummy" falls over board. Sound familiar?

I'll ck out the Lex.

Anonymous said...

I saw the finale tnite, too. They're airing reruns. I think I missed some before the last episode, tho. I went from Phil in the hospital to the finale. Kinda confused, but it's ok. Missed the first 10 min. or so tnite, so maybe I missed your 'dummy' reference?

Ok, this blue underlined thing is annoying. It seems I need to be "signed in" to get the blue. But when I just pop on w/out a proper sign in, it doesn't seem to be reading me as anything/one. Really, I can't be bothered to backtrack and sign in just to be blunderlined.
I just coined that. You like? ;)

Lookin' at the pics thinkin'...good times. If you have some time when you're in Austin soon, maybe we could grab lunch again. Maybe someplace less crowded than Rudy's though. Thanks for getting the pics up. I'm not sure if we've actually uploaded the pics on our camera since that trip. Oh, and I'll have a few scriptures about the question you asked me (which seemed like a month ago) up pretty soon on my blog.

Nestor said...

Oh, I gotta know Reck. Does Linda have the Oh, golly gosh gee Midwest accent? I'm guessing probably not. I'm just curious though.

Nestor said...

My neighbors are from Flint, and they have that accent. Not quite Minnesota, but a little of that midwest twang. It's almost Canadian.

RecknHavic said...

The accent is there, but it's subtle.

Yeah, the "gree" river was fun. Next time I come to Austin and we do lunch it'll hafta be NY style pizza (see my comment today at your blog).

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry...did I just hear Reck say I had an accent? Oh, that's rich.

RecknHavic said...

I said a subtle accent, eh?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, yours is subtle too. ;)

(Nice spell check on the word 'subtle', btw.)

RecknHavic said...

Owled yew no eye spill Chechen?

Anonymous said...

That's more like it.

Anonymous said...

I forgot to acknowlegde your softball streak. Totally forgot you were doing that. 2-2, eh? Whooooo Hoooooo! Is the boy playing, too?

RecknHavic said...

Not sure if he'll play this season (hasn't yet); I missed 1st 2 gms. This is a church league, which isn't as tough as last season (actually last one was in one a the top two in SA).

How'd T's team finish?

Anonymous said...

So I'm thinkin your team won the first 2 games? ;)

B was tball and they didn't keep score. Wouldn't want the precious kiddies to lose, would we? What kinda lesson is that? Don't worry...I make sure he loses in other things. :)

RecknHavic said...

Wish they did that in our league.

Nestor said...

I played one year on my stepfather's fall softball league. I wasn't 16 yet, but they said I was (we weren't Christians yet) Anyway, it was definitely a transition. I natually drop my shoulder when I swing, which wasn't a problem playing baseball, but playing slow-pitch it was not good. I think it flied out every at bat for the first two games. I did get it under control a little, but it wasn't a great season hitting-wise for me. The highlight of the season was a play at the plate where a guy about 230 ran full-speed into me and knocked me back about 6 feet...but I held onto the ball.

RecknHavic said...

Cool, you took one for the team. 230 bearin down on ya is no easy thing.

Yeah, my outs are usually pop-ups or fly outs. It's a matter of adjustments at the plate for SB. But, I'm still hittin pretty well; went 4 for 7 in dbl header last week (all singles tho).

(L tryin to join in the sports talk...)

Oh yeah? Well I saved the life (exagerating just a tad) of a woman holding her baby by leaping in the air for a football that was plummeting down on them in the pool in TX last week. I got water up my nose, so I took one for the "team", too. I'm thinkin it deserved a write up in the "Poolside Padre News", if there were such a publication. ;)

Of course later I nearly (VERY nearly) took out a gal AND her drink when my throw to D went awry.

Nestor said...

Football at the pool. Sounds fun. We did something similar when we were in Thailand. I can imagine the Australian tourists there thinking, "Bloody Americans, think they own the whole world."

Anonymous said...

Thailand...should that be on a list of places everyone should go? Don't know much about it.

Nestor said...

OK, so I had this intricate post about Thailand the went into the abyss of the internet.

I spent my two months there pretty much in a lot of the country between Bangkok and Chaing Mai. As far as stuff to see and do there is lots to do in Bangkok. It's a huge city. Shopping is dirt cheap. We went to a Kickboxing fight which was pretty sweet. For about $20 we got to sit ringside and we got first class service. They kept bringing around beer. (I drank a lot in those days and beer there was cheap) Beer wasn't much more at a restaurant than at a store, though it was ridiculous at the hotel. There's also some really cool malls. Jewelry is also really cheap. They don't have much in the way of diamonds, but they do have lots of sapphires, rubies, emeralds, jade, etc. Bangkok is also the largest city I've ever been to where you can see an elephant walking down the street. For just a few dollars, you can buy some bananas to feed to the elephant. It was a pretty cool experience. Chaing Mai was real cool. There are elephant 'farms' up there where you can ride through the jungle on top of an elephant. I'd really like to go to the south though, to see the beaches. I'd like to go to Phuket one day, if the tsunami didn't destroy it, I'm not really sure.

RecknHavic said...

Well same thing just happened to me.

I'll surmise. Thailnad sounds cool; not a place many get to see. I want to ride an elephant through the jungle too.

Anonymous said...

"blah blah blah, jewlery is also really cheap, blah, blah." Ha, just kidding, tho that stood out. :) I'm not much into expensive stuff, but if we're talkin sterlin and beads, I'm there.

Sounds neat. When we were in France, there was a restaurant called "Phuket". We giggled a lot. Then we took a pic of us by the sign. I know, but c'mon.

Nestor said...

Actually it's pronounced Poo-ket, but I understand the temptation.

On the subject of strange pronunciations, one of the suburbs here is called Pflugerville (pronounced Flew-gerville) and they put Pf on the front of everything you can imagine. That's where our church meets, for a few more months anyway, and the dentist next door is called Pfamily Dentistry. Anything with an 'F' gets a 'Pf' Pflugerville.

RecknHavic said...

Pflugerville, eh?
Don't think I've ever been there. Heard it's a nice town tho.

Thought about you and Lin last sunday. We took the big kids ti try our new fav thing,Chicago style pizza, (yes, we will try Florio's eventually). Anyhow, their neon sin (which said pizza) only had the "za" lit up.

Nestor said...

Nice, classy kinda place eh? Yeah, the best pizza I've ever had was this little hole-in-the wall in the Bronx on Fordham Rd. I'm sure the health dept. has closed it down by now, but the pizza was tremendous.

RecknHavic said...

It watn't the Ritz.
Sure is good za tho.

Lookin forward to the NY style. Hafta say that Dominoes won't do anymore.

Nestor said...

The other place in SA that was good was Miss Ellie's. It was on Bitters, just East of 281, but they seemed to have gone through either a management change, or at least several employee changes, and the pizza quality suffered. Florio's is family owned, run, and operated and is extremely good, and consistently good. One thing to look out for, is that they go to NY (or NJ, I'm not sure) every year in the summer. So you may want to call to make sure they are open before you drive all the way there.

Nestor said...

Speakn a rivers or "lakes", we're going out on Lake Travis this afternoon. It's the Large Marge Party Barge. It's set up for the marrieds at church. I wish I would have thought earlier to invite you guys. Well we didn't know until wednesday that we were going, and it wasn't until yesterday that we got baby sitting. Anyway, I wish I would have let you know sooner. Hope you and yours are havn a goodun.

RecknHavic said...

Thanks for the thought. I had to work today anyhow.

Seen any a the Olympics?

Nestor said...

No olympics for me. I planned on pretty much avoiding it, but then the women's sabre team swept the medals and it piqued my interest. Now I'm following online, but may not actually watch any. Large Marge was fun, but the Karaoke didn't work. Good times jumping from the second deck into the lake. Since our babysitter was sleeping over, we decided to catch a flick as well. We went to see Hancock. It was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My ratings for movies (that I've seen at the theatre) this year: (out of five stars)

The Dark Knight 4.5
Wall-E 4
Prince Caspian 4
Hancock 3.5
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything 3.5

RecknHavic said...

Yesterday woulda been a good day for swimmin; glad yall had a good time.

So, did the karaoke machine not work, "the Karaoke didn't work", or was it your singin ;)

Only one a those flicks I've seen is WALL-E; usin your 5pt scale I'd agree and give it a 4.
Other movies I've seen this yr..
Expelled 2.5
Indiana Jones 0.5

I musta seen more than this, just can't recall.

Nestor said...

The TV for the Karaoke wouldn't turn on and the amp wasn't putting out any juice. The 'captain' said that on saturday a band was using their setup and didn't have any problems. I don't know what happened, but it wasn't working.

Stan Rosenthal said...

Maybe I'm missing the jist of this, but I'll add in my two cents anyWAY. Phlugerville is where the movie about the Chicken Ranch was filmed. I have ties to Phlugerville, actually. *SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE*!!!!

Stan Rosenthal said...

Nestor, perhaps you should write me (@ say, stan@thesequencers.us ) about your Kareoke problems. I'm the king of kareoke.
