A Bird In The Hand

The other day, outside our back door, we heard some extra loud chirpin. Upon examination there were a couple a birds that were quite upset. Here's why. This little fella had fallin outta
nest in one of our trees. Youngest got
down on the ground and the little guy went
straight to her and climbed in her hands.

When I stuck em back in his nest I think he and his sibs thought it was supper time.
This evening dogs and I went out back to check on the nest, but Buster soon go
t bored and wanted back in.
Here's a common occurrence in our front yard.

UPDATE: They've all left the nest now. Here's one of em perched on the branch of another tree.
Yep, the nest is empty. Shot of gulls from oldest's trip to Corpus this weekend.

Laughalot

Tonight, the wife and I went to see the 2005 Emmy Award winning musical, Spamalot, at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio. Bein a huge Python fan my expectations (no matter how low I attempted to make em) were sky high. My fear was that we'd experience another "Jones moment" (referring to the abject disappointment we experienced several weeks ago when we went to see "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull") because back to back letdowns would be, well, a letdown.

W/ tickets (which S had gotten for me as a gift for our 10th anniversary; yes, she's cool) in hand, actually in her purse, we put on some good duds and headed out.

The one thing we didn't account for was the possibility of traffic. It's sunday for crying out loud. Well, traffic there was (on 281 S near the airport). But, doin my best Speed Racer, we weathered the delay and arrived in time to get
a quick cocktail , grab our seats and prepare for, what we hoped, would be an entertainin nite.

And so, it began.

It grabs you from the get-go. After the cast "mistakenly" does a number about Finland (instead of England), w/ accompanying "fisch schlapping" (think: the Fish Slapping Sketch) you really never stop laughing. Seriously.

They interpose scenes from The Holy Grail (w/ a nod to some of Python's funniest sketches) and original numbers that expand on the comedic genius of Monty Python. The continuity is superb. W/ Grail favorites like "I'm Not Dead Yet", "Brave Sir Robin", The Knight Who Say Ni" and of course "Knights Of The Round Table"; to originals like "The Song That Goes Like This", "Find Your Grail" and "All For One" it's entertainment at it's best. They even do a version of "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" from The Life Of Brian, touchin on it again in the Black Knight scene. The consistant themes poppin up here and there throughout is very Pythonish. The Lady of the Lake has a rather prominant role (much larger than the "moistened
bink who lobs scimitars" at prospective kings). But worry not, she's quite funny.

All in all, the best time I've had in a long, long time. Die hard Python fans and those who've never heard of em will love this King Arthur farce. But be prepared, cause in Spamalot, you'll laugh ALOT.
