The blade on the left is live.
The one on the right was dormant
until I sprayed it.
Testing...

Who knows, maybe one day this
green will produce some real green.
Anybody want their yard painted?

Meeeee!
Ok, couple questions...first of all, I have no doubt that you have done too much varnishing in poorly ventilated areas. That being said...
1. How long does it last?
2. Is it water proof?
3. Is it safe for rabbits? (What? Nestor's gettin rabbits and don't they eat grass?) Ok, "animals" then.
4. Does it have an odor?
5. Does it alter the consistency of the grass? i.e. courser, or more delicate?
6. How much testing has this "paint" been through?
7. If it washes away, is it safe for the environment? heh heh
It looks great..I like it. A lot. Shoot, I'd worry a lot less about the actual heath of the lawn..cuz it's...PRETTY! Which really poses a whole philosophical problem. Ya know..pretty, but not healthy or with little substance. Maybe I'm thinkin a little too deeply here.
Spray on!
It won't come off on your shoes, will it? Really, what's the down side?
You've probably done this test, but do your dogs notice? In other words, are they comfy peein on it?
Also, ya gotta have kids play on it. Is it gonna take "grass stains" to a whole new level? Does it come out in the wash?
Should I calm down? Ha...I kinda like this idea.
Very interesting. I'm still pondering this. But, I thought this Jefferson quote was too good to not post it somewhere that it'd be appreciated.
"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
-Thomas Jefferson
I think this sums up how I feel about most of the left's agenda. Forcing me to pay for abortions, for incompetent businesses and businesses that were killed by failed government ideology, forcing me to pay for the medical costs, education costs and welfare checks of illegal immigrants, etc, etc. You go TJ!
Crap, I did it again.
I'm mostly wondering if the paint kills the grass. After you paint the grass, does it continue to grow normally? Does it affect the life of the grass? I wonder because if you paint it, and the grass LOOKS green, but is actually dead, it'll be no joy to walk on barefoot, even if it looks real good. Whatever the results, you are taking the phrase, "going green" to a new level.
A customer!
Ok, one ata time...
1. 10 to 14 weeks or three to 4 cuttings.
2. Yes, it dries to touch in 1 hr.
3. Not recommended as for feedin rabbits. Can be mixed w/ insecticides, fungicides, pesticides, herbicides,& fertilizers.
4. It is a non toxic, odorless dye which covers the grass blade (not the root) w/ a lattice-like effect (which allows sun lite to "feed" the blade). Because of the cooling effects normal watering is reduced 15-20%.
5. It doesn't alter the consistency or feel of the lawn. It does, however, absorb heat, allowing lawn to come out of dormancy healthier (which promotes Spring "green-up").
6. According to the Material Saftey Data Sheet there are no known health concerns related to this product. Of course, if ya drank it...
7. It does not wash away as it is a permanent dye (which does fade in time). When mowed the clipping revert to nitrogen, which promotes a healthy soil; and in turn promotes a healthy turf.
Great questions! When would you like to schedule a spraying? And, comin soon...Mulch Magic. Don;t go to the expense & labor of replacin the mulch in your flower beds, lets the pros restore it's natural beauty.
And yes, it's a real product as well.
Yeah but Nestor, can't that be said about all tax payers? Nobody agrees with everything their taxes are going to. It's that democracy thing.
I live in an association, where soon we'll be paying for re-paving part of the road. Nobody's real happy about it because most of us don't wanna spend money on that right now. But when each house voted on it, it passed marginally.
Wow! The buzz this is creatin already ;)
I think mosta your questions (Nest) I answered for L. And yes, the dogs think it's real enough to poop on...BELIEVE me.
It doesn't rub off on clothing or shoes. Water doesn't recatalyze it either.
W/ Obama's "green" revolution i figure there's a govt grant here somewhere.
We Americans pay roughly 40% of our earnings in taxes. That's about 30% too much imo.
Oh, I'm on board for the mulch. Mulch drives me mad.
Now, you might think this would only be a warmer (southern)climate product, as up north yall get so much snow coverage. However, it does put a barrier between the dormant grass blade & the effects of winter; thus spurring on a faster spring "green-up".
Two sales!
Please make your ck out to...
Linda,
I figured you'd say that, and I thought about how the libs felt about paying taxes under Bush's admin. Really I think if you take this quote to it's fullest conclusion, you have to massively cut the size of government, which would make me ecstatic.
RecknPaintn?
R> However, it does put a barrier between the dormant grass blade & the effects of winter; thus spurring on a faster spring "green-up".
Okaayyy...so are you gonna spray UNDER the snow? Or are you advocating a fall spray?
I'm in. I'd like it done July 1st, please. Oh, that's right before the holiday. Perfect! Bring the fam! (I'm so transparent.)
N> Really I think if you take this quote to it's fullest conclusion..
It's my nature not to take a quote any further than it's stated. I know...I'm a pain.
Nite, lovelies.
Am I hearing that you guys mow your lawns 3 to 4 times in a 10 to 14 week time span? That's some slow growin!
Any thoughts on how you're gonna market this? Mostly word of mouth?
The idea is to "paint" the lawn in the late fall/early winter, when the grass turns dormant. manufacture says dye can hold up for to 6 mos. So, when it starts to grow again (the spring) the dye color will last until you've mowed 3 or 4 times. By that point it should be turnin green on its own. Normally we mow every 7 to 10 days dependin on rain (which seems to not exist round these parts anymore).
Gonna call on realtors first, see if there's a market for improvin "curb appeal" on homes for sale.
Ohhh! I gotcha. I was thinking it was a summer thing, but what you said makes more sense. That's kinda funny...my mind goes to summer when talking grass. I wasn't even thinking winter.
Good idea on the realtor thing.
Still, w/ this drought, there could be a market for it now.
I guess I've always pictured it really dry there all the time. Like all dusty with tumbleweeds rollin by the HEB and all. Well geez..there were wild cactuseses growin there! I thought you were all desert like. Of course humid, too. Is that possible? Dry but humid? I don't think it is. I'll have to think on this to reconcile it in my head.
Linda, I think you're thinking of West Texas. Once you get about two hours (drive) west of San Antonio, you get about 18 hours of desert until you get to LA. East Texas is very green though. Actually green, not like, environmentally 'friendly'. It ain't California.
I think you must be right, Nestor.
"..there were wild cactuseses growin there!"
As opposed to the tame ones?
Speakin of wild, lil one got into a fire ant bed today got a good 9 or 10 quick stings. She's tough tho, said it doesn't hurt, just itchy.
Make fun if you must, but I was surprised seeing that for some reason. Shoulda heard me when I saw hummingbirds in Arizona flying around like...regular birds! Crazy! If you ever travel beyond the Mason-Dixon line you might be surprised at what you're surprised at. (There's some killer grammar to teach your kids.)
Aw, glad it wasn't too big a deal for her.
I wonder id it's actually "cacti"?
I think it might be a lost cause teachin my kiddos good grammar. Not because a them, cause a me.
I'm sure I'd be just as surprised on the other side a that line.
I thought about looking up the "cactus" thing..but I can't be bothered.
Getting finger printed here soon to start teaching again. My certificate is officially current. (Scary.) Ohhhh, I so don't wanna do this. Oh well.
"They're horrible. They're like little terrorists."
Detective Crisp from "Kindergarten Cop speakin of his 1st day teachin.
I had a kindergartner spit in my face once, when I was tying his shoe. I know..what a doll. That was at the end of probably my worst subbing day. When I left, I got in my car and just started crying. ha!
It takes a special kind of person to teach kindergartners.
They're swell when they're not spittin on ya! My mom taught kindergarten..she loved it. Her twin sister did, too. Twins are weird.
You're not signin up tp sub kinders are you? Or is it a, whatever they need at that time thingy?
Remember, don't show fear..they can sense it.
Well, your mom and aunt are special people then. I've seen some people who are just awesome with kids that age, but it's not for everyone. Leave me with 20 5 year olds and there would just be chaos. I'm working on it though. Teaching the 2 and 3 year old Kids Kingdom class is challenging, but from week 1 to week 2 it was better.
Yeah, it's whatever grade. I'm certified to teach K-5 with endorsements to teach Science, Social Science, and English grades 6-8, so that's what I can get called for. Actually, I may be able to sub high school, too, but I'm not sure.
To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how it's gonna work. This is a different system from what I know. I think most of it's on line now. My ideal would be to take work at the boys' school, so before and after school will be easy. Plus, I really like it there, and know the teachers, etc. They're hoping for that, too. I dunno. I'm nervous about it.
Good Luck. I have a friend who subbed for awhile. He mostly enjoyed it. If you're teaching science make sure you mix in ID with evolution. :)
I think PE would be a good one. No books, no tests; just make em run horses.
If it's middle school science, is there a chance for dissections? THAT would be cool!
N> "If you're teaching science make sure you mix in ID with evolution. :)"
R> "...just make em run horses."
I swear..I really ought to think harder about the company I keep. I used to be really selective when it came to friends. I don't know what happened.

Is there something I can take for that??
L, "Is there something I can take for that??"
Brisket and Chicken Fried Steak and a Shiner Bock.
Again, posting as Carmen. I've really got to pay attention to who's set up.
We did a brisket the other week for the first time. Slow cooked it. Man, was that tasty. Then I looked at the nutritional info, and realized why it was so good.
"We did a brisket the other week for the first time"
For the first time is hard to imagine. We're weened on brisket down here.
Come on..we know it's really you Carmen.
Seriously tho..have you ever read how much fat is in a serving? I dunno how you all stay skinny down there w/ all your fryin and brisket eatin. Course your weather's better year round so you've gotta be more active than we are. Most of us put on a few "winter lbs" while we're hybernating and then panic to get em off for Spring.
Fat in a brisket doesn't count. And really, we're like the fattest state in the union. I think SA alone is in the top 3 in the country in beer drinkin, body weight and kiosk ownership.
Go figure.
Ahhh..you crack me up. Between "fat in a brisket doesn't count" and "kiosk ownership"..LOL!
GREEN LAWNGER UPDATE:
After 5 solid days of rain I'm happy to report that it does NOT rub off on anything. If time allows this comin week I'm gonna paint the entire front yard. Oh, if I can locate a chemical sprayer w/ an agitator that is. Must have adequate agitation.
Reck out.
I get agitated frequently...maybe I could be of service!
You're hired!
I was thinkin maybe I could walk out on lawns and agitate em.
"Hey blaaaades...you look like crap! How bout strapin em on and takin some paint? Oh, I know you feeeel good, but you're not GREEN! Wha? Wha? You gotta problem with me? Whatchoo talkin about grassy?"
I think that'll do it.
My kids are really rarely sick. T's had the stomach flu twice, and B once in their short lifetimes. The last time either one of em was sick was early Dec. when B had a cold. That's something for around these parts.
Now D has a friend whose kids are always sick and every time my boys have a sleepover with them they catch something. I don't mean sometimes, I mean EVERY TIME. It's bizarre. When they left Thurs. for up north, we were all prepared for them to be sick when they returned (even them)...and they are. So far it's just sniffles and cough.
San Antonio, Dallas and Houston are usually in the top 10 fattest cities and maybe Fort Worth also. In the last survey I heard about, Austin popped in at 19, which is strange because it was also in the top 5 or 10 fittest cities. But it's not terribly surprising. Maybe Austin between 35 and Mopac is the fittest part, and outside of 35 and Mopac is the fattest part.
Keep Austin Wide!
Not only is SA ALWAYS in the Top 3 Fattest catagory; but, T# beer consumin town and SA puts down more dogs than any other city.
I'm so proud.
L, do I need to even say it...
...tryn not to.....
.....GETEM SOME ZINC!!
Sorry, that was like a zinc tourette.
Oh right. I keep forgetting about zinc. I'm not sure I believe in zinc.
"SA puts down more dogs than any other city."
That's an odd stat. Even odder that you know that. Oh wait. Do you mean they eat more hot dogs than any other city? Or that they literally euthanize more canines?
I don't think it's frankfurters. But I imagine SA eats more guacamole than any other city. Probably more breakfast tacos than anyother city and probably more tripas as well.
N pegged it, SA consumes alotta guac.
They're constantly runnin news stories about spayin and nueterin around here cause SA does "put down" more dogs than anyone else.
Btw, 5 new SpongeBobs this week; daily, 5pm cent time...I'm just sayn..
