Hahaha! He's so cute.
He's bad.
Was going to post this on Stan's blog but I didn't think it'd be appreciated there.
"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:26-27
Funny how it's plural in verse 26. This started a debate in my Western Civilization class that the professor stopped. People were questioning why it was plural, so I brought up Jesus. It's obvious to a Christian how this shows that God is the author of the bible. If not, the Jews would have "corrected" this "mistake". Clearly, this shows how the Father, Son and Spirit were in control from the beginning.
God inspired "breathed" text cannot lie.
Wonder why your prof stopped the conversation ;)
She said that we're not talking about Jesus. "We'll get to him in a few weeks." I understand that to an agnostic, looking at Genesis as a strictly Jewish text, Jesus has nothing to do with it, but it's obvious that God was very blatant about his triune nature from the very beginning of the bible.
So she wouldn't even entertain the argument of a truine God?
Next time mention the water analogy...
That didn't really play in. I'll say this as a disclaimer, she is the best history professor I've had, and she was even better than the only conservative history professor that I had. I think her deal was looking at Genesis as being strictly Jewish. She didn't understand, or didn't want to, the Christian perspective of the old testament being the foretelling of Jesus and the New Testament being the revelation of Jesus. It was early in the class though, and I didn't really want to argue the point. However, we had MANY religious discussions that she let go far beyond what most people in the class were wanted, occasionally even more than what I wanted.
Well cool then, she sounds fair-minded.
Nestor @ August 3, 2010 1:46 AM,
You are correct, sir, it would not be appreciated (since you have yet to give any reason to believe that this (supposed) God you speak of even exists), but it would've been tolerated.
Say Nestor, I do believe I have a comment over on your blog ('The Irish Rican') awaiting "moderation". I think in the 2nd. from most recent thread.
It's now the 3rd. most recent (Nestor seems to be involved in a cover-up operation).
